The Short Answer

What Is General Dentistry?

General dentistry is the everyday care that keeps your mouth healthy: regular cleanings and exams, X-rays, fillings, and treatment when something hurts or breaks. Seeing the same general dentist over time means problems get caught early, when they're smaller and easier to fix.

At Ethos Advanced Dental Care in Temecula, your general care includes:

  • Professional cleanings
  • Complete dental exams
  • Low-radiation digital X-rays
  • Fillings and early-decay care
  • Crowns and root canals
  • Gum disease treatment

What does a general dentist do?

A general dentist is your main dentist for everyday care: checkups and cleanings, X-rays, fillings, crowns, root canals, gum care and treatment for tooth pain. At Ethos, most of that happens in one office, so you aren't sent elsewhere for routine care.

How often should I get a dental cleaning and exam?

Most people should have a cleaning and exam every six months. If you have gum disease or a higher risk of cavities, we may recommend visits every three to four months.

Does insurance cover cleanings and exams?

Most PPO plans cover two cleanings and exams a year, often at little or no cost to you. We check your benefits before your visit so you know what to expect.

How much is a new patient visit without insurance?

New patients without insurance can get a complete exam and X-rays for $99. If you need treatment, we'll explain your options and costs before anything is done.

Are dental X-rays safe?

Yes. We use Schick digital X-rays, which can reduce radiation exposure by up to 80% compared with traditional film X-rays.

Can a cavity be treated without drilling?

Sometimes. Very early decay that hasn't broken through the enamel can often be treated with Curodont, a liquid that helps the enamel rebuild, with no drilling or numbing. Larger cavities need a filling.

What's the difference between general and family dentistry?

They overlap. General dentistry is the everyday care itself; family dentistry means we provide it for patients of all ages, so parents and kids can be seen in the same office.

Do you see patients on Saturdays?

Yes. We offer early morning, evening and Saturday appointments to fit around work and school.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Bring your insurance card, a photo ID and a list of any medications you take. If you have recent X-rays from another dentist, we can request them so you don't need to repeat them unnecessarily.
